Hello friends and fans! I'm not going to go on too much about this but I thought I express my feelings about this! The contest that myspace and the Associated Press has MISLEAD ITS CONTESTANTS!!!
Here is a quote from the contests rules and guidelines page which you can check out for yourself
here.
Style and Content
This is important: we want mini-
movies rather than dry Public Service Announcements. We encourage narrative — meaning a storyline. We’re not looking for lots of talking heads and scrolling text of facts and stats to tell the story. Show us dramatically rather than telling us.
Make us laugh, weep, gasp, grin.
And: Be Yourself. Share your issue. Be passionate. Be original. If it looks and sounds like something we’ve all seen for years, our eyes glaze over. Originality excites us more than whether it looks like prime-time.
I thought when I first read this, great! I'll enter into the contest and tell the world my issue. So I spent a day filming the 2 min. short film, got my cousin Brittany to play the part and boom, by the next day, It was submitted and it got some great reviews by viewers, one even saying: "wow that has gotta be the best FYI i seen so far. very true and very unstopable" You can check out my entry
here.
So yesterday, the top 35, oh wait, the top 34 finalists were announced and I strolled over there to check out which page my video would be on and BOOM. Not there. I'm like o-k, no problem, lets see who beat me in the competition.
EVERY SINGLE ON OF THE ENTRANTS DOESN'T FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES SET FOR BY THE COMPETITION. THEY CONTAINS COPYRIGHTED MUSIC, AND DOES NOT EXPRESS A DRAMATIC STORY IN A "MINI-MOVIE" FORMAT!!!
Just think I'm a sore looser? Check out the finalist yourself
here!. Keep in mind the guidelines set forth at the beginning of the competition!
So I've written to the Editor to Film Your Issue and still haven't got a response back! So what do you think? Do you think that I have the right to feel mislead, or am I just a sore looser?
